What we have here is...

WASHINGTON – Republican Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana says he supports conservative organizations challenging President Barack Obama's citizenship in court.
Vitter, who is running for re-election, made the comments at a town hall-style event in Metairie, La., on Sunday when a constituent asked what he would do about what the questioner said was Obama's "refusal to produce a valid birth certificate."
Such claims about Obama's birth certificate have been discredited. But with the crowd applauding the question, Vitter responded that although he doesn't personally have legal standing to bring litigation, he supports "conservative legal organizations and others who would bring that to court," according to a video of the event.

The Way I See It...
There's plenty to hammer our president on in the REAL world. To look for faults, we don't need to pull in Tales From Bizarroworld. The groundswell populace who put Barack Obama in office is populated with individuals - like myself - who are wondering why we're still in Iraq. We can't believe the truth is we've ramped up troop numbers (and death tolls) in Afghanistan. A nearly complete lack of public leadership leading to a joke of a gift to the insurance and pharma industries called health care reform...and the mishandling of the worst environmental disaster in the history of Amurica.
Let's talk about THOSE things. We could talk about Obama in relationship to the American economy, but we ALL know that situation was signed, sealed, and delivered by the Bush Administration. I personally don't know that anything Barack Obama did would have made us better off at this stage in the game. Sure, his leadership on Wall Street reform has been only a few ticks higher on the Leadershipometer, but he did not do this to you and your children's children. That Guy You'd Like To Have A Beer With did.
But Senator David Vitter is a symptom of the poison being spilled by the most vocal and powerful forces in the GOP; nay, the entire right "side" of this one particular nation on Earth. This is where we go when we see the part of "right" played by Glenn Becks, Sarah Palins, Rush Limbaughs, Dick Cheneys, Karl Roves, Ann Coutlers, and Billo the Clowns. The fact the birthers aren't just the people Tea Partiers call "wingnuts", but rather have a United States Senator from the high-profile Gulf Coast state of Louisiana publicly stroking them...THAT is many things, including, but not limited to pathetic, frightening, challenging, enlightening...and foretelling.
This is the Vitter Truth about Barack Obama. This is the Vitter Truth about where we are as a civilization. Our leaders don't care about truth. They don't care about what's real. They only care about winning. And we let them do it. Does David Vitter truly believe Barack Obama is not an American (God, it looks even more ridiculous in print)? I can't believe that. He's privy to too much as a U.S. Senator. It's not like he's some unbalanced lowly congressman like Joe Wilson. And if he doesn't believe what he's pushing, he's selling his followers snake oil. Trouble is, they're buying it.
$20 says David Vitter wins re-election, even AFTER it's exposed that he's backing the birthers. Any takers?
