If you believe you have the right to know what's in the food you buy, Congressman Mike Pompeo is not your friend.  Neither are the GMO lobby corporations and industry associations who have given more to him than almost anyone else in Congress.

In a new report, the Environmental Working Group has done their homework and followed the money to show us who in Congress the GMO lobby is bolstering, and by how much.

Mike Pompeo's primary opposition is Todd Tiahrt, who formerly held Pompeo's congressional seat for many years.  In truth, he's not a whole lot different from Pompeo on the issues and is really just another establishment Republican, but he's found a political expediency in attacking Pompeo on GMO labeling and is therefor a preferable candidate.  I would urge liberty-loving Wichita area Republicans to vote for Todd Tiahrt over Mike Pompeo in the upcoming Republican primary.

Today I received a question from a Twitter follower asking if I had any information on "when things will start happening."  Well, I think there's plenty of evidence to suggest things already are.  The LIBOR scandal continues to occupy mainstream headlines.  Financial institutions are being fined left and right.  Bank heads are stepping down, including Bob Diamond of Barclays.  If you've read David Wilcock's most recent post, you know that Barclays has been scientifically identified as the #1 corporation ruling the world!  For them to take the first hit in the LIBOR debacle doesn't bode well for the other 146 companies (75% of which are financial institutions) controlling 80% of the world's wealth.

The cloaked Washington insider Poofness has also released a post that spells bad news for the elite.  In a case of poetic irony, the IRS is being audited!  And this just in, the Monday channeling of Mike Quinsey's SaLuSa doesn't feel like most of his recent messages which lately have seemed to be mostly regurgitation of past posts.

Stuff really looks and feels, to me, to be "happening".

What you can do

And there's one more piece of change in motion - one you might be able to actually help with!  Ron Paul's bill to audit the Federal Reserve past the committee stage with NO opposition.  Now it will go to the full house to be voted on.  This is where you can help.  Call AND email your congressional representative today!  The vote is scheduled for tomorrow (July 24).  Encourage all of your connections across all your social networks to do the same.  Together we can at the very least let Congress feel how ready We, The People are for these changes.  Let's let them know we're serious and demand they vote to go ahead with a top-to-bottom audit of the Fed.

How to do it

Step 1: Contact Congress.  Use contactingthecongress.org to find your representative.  Then, call AND email them.  Tell them you support Bill HR 459 and want them to vote YES tomorrow, July 24.

Step 2: Encourage all your family and friends you'd like them to do the same.  Do it as many different ways as you can.  Facebook it.  Post it to groups.  Forums.  Tweet it, Tumble it, Google Plus it.

Together, we can take real action TODAY to finally take down the elite bankers who've had a stranglehold on our planet for a century.  Their time is coming to a close.  Let's speed up the clock.

Why are you paying Lockheed Martin to fix defective merchandise?

Let's say you bought a highly-anticipated new Ford model straight off the floor as soon as it hit the showroom. And let's say you paid an arm and a leg to be the first customer to get it. Now let's say the brakes went out on your way home. And let's say that after narrowly averting a colossal tragedy, you arrived home to see on the news that Ford had recalled that very same uber-hyped vehicle because of a problem with the brakes.

Who would you expect would pay for that recall? Who do you think would foot the bill to fix your brakes? Ford would pay for it, of course. As well they should!

But replace Ford in the story above with Lockheed Martin, and replace your hypothetical new ride with an F-22 Raptor, then change out the potentially fatal mechanically-flawed brakes with an oxygen delivery system with a deficiency that's allegedly behind at least 20 American fighter pilots passing out in the skies over America and you might be surprised to find YOU are stuck with the bill. Again.

That's right. You, the American taxpayer, bought a bunch of these "next generation" fighter jets - regardless of the fact you neither asked for them nor need them - to the tune of $66.7 BILLION. And when you got the jets, they exhibited a flaw so serious it could destroy the plane and kill the pilot you paid to train - not to mention any unlucky civilians at ground zero. Maybe you. What an ironic twist that would be, eh?

The cost to fix the defective system? $24 million. Oh, yeah - you're paying that, too. Not the defense contractor swimming in America's billions. Just because it's their fault, why should THEY pay to fix their own error? Everyone deserves a second chance, and corporations are people, too. Right, Mitt?

So our country iss supposedly broke.  We, The People can't be convinced we should wrest our own health care away from the clutch of private, profit-driven corporations, even though it would cost us all less in the long run and provide a system that truly tried to make us well instead of keep us chronically in poor health so we need medications, procedures and extended hospital stays.  And that same populace shells out TRILLION$ on killing machines.

We don't want to take care of our brother, we want to kill him. But the assbackwardness of our civilization's priorities is a topic for another blog.

If the hypothetical Ford recall above fell to the individual consumer to pay to fix their own brakes, lawyers would be all over that class action lawsuit!  And that's what we need to do here now. Enough is enough. No, we will NOT pay to fix these planes!  We demand Lockheed Martin make it right.  On THEIR dime - or rather, the dime they already got out of us.

I ask you to call or email your senators and congresspeople to remind them they are elected to serve the people of this country, not the interests of industry. They must stop payment immediately and force Lockheed-Martin to fix the planes because it's the right thing to do. After all, Lockheed Martin's own slogan is "We never forget who we're working for." Maybe it's a mistake to assume they mean us.

An open letter to all elected officials

Dear officials elected to represent the American people (your station is much more important than your name),

I would like to make my personal feelings clear so that you can better represent me. I pray it is indeed your intention to do so.

I would like to see all military aggression by the United States in all areas of planet Earth cease immediately. I do not wish to have my hard-earned taxes used to take even a single life, regardless of whose life it may be. Furthermore, I would like all monies spent on aggression to be pulled immediately. No more assault rifles. No more tanks. No more fighter jets. No more bombers, and indeed no more bombs.

All life on this planet is connected. We cannot harm another without harming all, including ourselves. The time for these misguided actions has long since ended. It is time for you as our elected representative to behave accordingly and do what is right for all, not what is expedient to get you re-elected or what makes "defense" contrators happy.

Good News for Raj Goyle

9/14/10: Since this post keeps getting traffic, I think it's best to post the obvious update: Last week Wink Hartman ended up deciding to NOT enter the race as a Libertarian.

Local news is reporting oil tycoon Wink Hartman, having taken 3rd place in the Republican primary, is considering a run as a Libertarian against the GOP winner Mike Pompeo.

This is AWESOME!  Hartman spent literally millions of his own money on the primary and took 3rd!  He didn't even just barely lose - he lost his ass.  Now he's considering spending more of his money to run against Pompeo in the general election?  Goosebumps.

Raj Goyle was already looking like a contender.  I mean, it's already actually possible that someone other than a Republican could replace Todd TeaHeart, er Tiarht, as the congressman for Kansas' 4th district.  Now we have a situation where Wink Hartman will be spending Libertarian dollars as well as his own to compete for Republican votes.  I guarantee he'll position himself as more batshit, er conservative than Pompeo.  He'll pander once again to the Tea Partiers and Birthers who are dictating the direction of the GOP.  You'll have the ugly Republican primary mudslinging all over again!  Pompeo will focus on the fact Hartman isn't really from Kansas...because that's about all he has on him.  Raj will continue to hammer Pompeo on sending jobs out of Kansas, because it's the ugly truth.  Ugly for Pompeo, anyway.  And of course there's that whole thing where Pompeo promoted through Twitter a racist blog against Goyle.

And when it's all said and done, neither Pompeo nor Hartman will have more votes than Raj.  Absolutely wonderful! 

Today is a good day. 

Now all we have to do is hope Hartman throws his hat in the Libertarian ring before Friday. 

I would like to reiterate that I am NOT a Democrat!  However, in this race I strongly support Raj Goyle as the best candidate to represent my own personal ideals in Congress. 

On Shakedowns

This past Thursday BP CEO Tony Hayward went before Congress to answer their questions about how this oil disaster happened. Or to NOT answer their questions, as it turned out. He apparently knew nothing, remembered nothing, and was not a part of key decisions as CEO of one of the largest international companies in existence. And if you believe that, have I got an investment opportunity for you! For the record, congressional leaders sent Hayward a letter beforehand explicitly telling him what questions they wanted answered.

But Hayward's predictable non-testimony wasn't the most bizarre thing to come out of that hearing. No, that moment belonged to Texas Republican Congressman Joe Barton, who's received more money from the oil and gas industry than any other member of Congress. When the time came for Barton's opening comments, he stated that he was ashamed of what happened the day before in the White House (government officials and BP officers agreeing to set up a $20 billion fund for oil spill victims), that it amounted to a shakedown of BP, and then he looked directly at Tony Hayward...and apologized!  In his own words:

I'm ashamed of what happened in the White House yesterday. I think it is a tragedy of the first proportion that a private corporation can be subjected to what I would characterize as a shakedown. In this case a $20 billion shakedown.  I apologize. I do not want to live in a country where any time a citizen or a corporation does something that is legitimately wrong, is subject to some sort of political pressure that is, again, in my words — amounts to a shakedown, so I apologize.

I remember watching him say that and thinking, "Did that just happen?"

So Joe Barton doesn't want to live in a country where a private citizen or corporation (which now enjoys all the 1st Amendment rights of an individual citizen thanks to this Supreme Court, giving them the "right" to spend as much as they wish to influence American elections) can do "something that is legitimately wrong" and be subjected to government forcing them to be financially responsible.  I'm pretty sure I don't want to live in Joe Barton's America.  

Did he really say that?  What amount of thought did he put into those words before releasing them in public - indeed, in front of the cameras of the national media, not to mention on the record of a congressional hearing?  For all their talk during election cycles about "accountability", how is it that any Republican can say it's wrong to hold British Petroleum accountable for the worst environmental disaster in American history?  How could it possibly be wrong to hold them accountable for the damage they've done to the livelihoods of so many, not to mention the local economies of the affected regions?  How could holding them accountable be something for which Joe Barton felt he needed to apologize?

The Truth Behind the Republican Reaction

Republicans reacted as quickly as they could Thursday, issuing statements against his words - some even calling for him to step down as the ranking Republican on the Energy and Commerce Committee (**cough**OIL**cough**), but what he said - and even using the term shakedown - was not that different than how they were talking amongst themselves just the day before!

The day before, and amongst themselves, it sounded good. But on camera, in front of the national media, in a public hearing?  As soon as he said the words, it looked a little different I guess.

The truth is, the Republican party apparently sees BP as biggest victim of this entire disaster. They're not apologizing to the fishing industry.  They're not apologizing to the people in coastal towns.  No, they think the biggest problem here is a giant company is having its feet held to the fire for not doing what it was supposed do to protect the people of America from this disaster.  A giant company is being "attacked", and needs to be defended.  What happens to "We the people" doesn't rank.  Ostensibly, they think "We the people" will suffer if the corporation suffers.  Trickle down, blah blah blah.  Jobs, blah blah blah. 

And one of the scariest elements to this development in the BP oil spill saga is elected Republicans aren't the only Republicans who think it's wrong for BP to have to be held accountable!  It is utterly unfathomable to me, but real nonetheless.  Behold, a tweet that came across my TweetDeck yesterday from @carolflowery:

BP's shakedown of the American people

The real shakedown here is the one British Petroleum has been perpetrating against the American people for decades.  They and other oil giants have been reaping huge numbers and have only recently seen profits start to decline, but don't worry about them.  They can make that $20 billion back in a year.  How long do you think the the clean up from this spill will be ongoing?  As I've reminded you in previous posts, the cleanup from the Exxon Valdez is still going on presently.  That happened in 1989.

And the truth is Republicans - and not just Joe Barton - would have them keep shaking us down.  Would allow them to continue to oversee their own industry, if they would have any oversight at all.  They would have BP NOT help the real victims of this disaster they caused and keep their $20 billion.

Apparently they're sorry that they won't be.
